Build Your Own Altoid Tin Battery Pack
Okay, so this one’s been around for a while, but what the hell, it’s Saturday. And besides, our interview with Rachel yesterday had me thinking about it all over again. Chris has managed to revise his original design, and create an external iPod battery pack out of a miniature Altoid tin. He’s posted a complete photo set of his new version, which is based around a 9V battery and can power your iPod for about 4 hours. There’s schematics and a parts list on the original version, which can be easily adapted for the newer, smaller tin. As you can see, it’s Firewire based, which leaves newer models of Apple’s little player out. Can it be done with USB for newer models?
